Since Marissa and I became engaged, we've been on top of the wedding planning. We had guest lists already made out, had the church and priest locked in for the date we wanted (June 23, 2007) and were busy trying to pick our reception location. We were actually out and about today meeting with representatives from a few facilities seeing exactly what they could offer us. In fact, we think we found exactly what we were looking for in the Holiday Inn. It has a beautiful ballroom and an even more stunning pavillion area which we both liked. We were considering reserving it for our wedding date and putting down a deposit before the end of the day.

But then something unexpected happened.

Marissa got a call from her father informing her there was an envelope that had been delivered to the house. It was from the Army. Marissa and I stopped at her parent's that afternoon and she opened the envelope. As soon as she pulled out the paper she broke down in tears (...while shouting certain explicatives). She had orders mobilizing her back into the active duty Army for 545 days for a deployment to Iraq. She reports for duty just after the New Year and should be released sometime before July 2008.

No further information is available at this time....the wedding is subsequently cancelled or postponed.....we don't know what we're going to do at this point.

The future of this blog, originally intended to be a wedding blog for our friends and family is also uncertain.
