Today, I asked the girl of my dreams to be my wife and she said, "Yes!" Marissa Pelky, the nerdy, obnoxious, childhood girlfriend from my Jr. High School years will soon be bossing me around, rationing my paycheck, and making my life miserable.
...alright, just kidding about that last part.
I planned a special scavenger hunt this morning starting at 8:45am. Marissa had gotten home from work around 4am that morning and went to bed shortly after so I knew she would be at home in her own bed sleeping at the chosen time. She didn't know it, but her parents were already in on my little plan.
At 8:45am I had her mother wake her up and give her the first of five envelopes containing instructions and clues for her morning scavenger hunt.
Her scavenger hunt took her around our small little town to different locations that held a special meaning in our relationship. At each new location there was another clue inside another envelope for her. Each clue reminisced a little about the significance of each location before giving her clues on where to proceed.
The locations she would visit would include:
- Starbucks Newburgh
- Castle Jr. High School
- Newburgh Town Hall (The old Newburgh Library)
- Her parent's house. (Would have been the Angel Mounds State Historic Site if not for bad weather.)
By 10:45am, Marissa and I stood in her parent's sunroom where I surprised her with a ring. She said yes, and the rest is waiting to be written.....
